In December 1998, Tyler Parsons was voted "Surveyor of the Year" for 1998 by the Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon Board of Directors, and was presented with a plaque by the PLSO and the surveyor statue donated by POB Magazine. This honor was awarded for outstanding contribution to the Surveying profession in Oregon. Through his efforts, the PLSO now has:
Tyler was the 1997 President of the Willamette Chapter of the PLSO which hosted a very successful convention in Lincoln City, Oregon, He has been active in other areas of the PLSO, such as the Legislative Committee, which, since the 1995 Oregon legislative session, has proposed and helped get signed into law bills relating to surveyor's liens, statutes of limitations, right of entry onto private land for surveying purposes, and semi-independence of the state engineering and land surveying board. He also worked on the 1999 committee reviewing and revising the PLSO Bylaws and the Code of Ethics.
